Welcome
Welcome to my Disney Pin Collector Web Site. Here I will show you my collection and tell you all about collecting Disney Pins, how to get them, where to get them and which are best to collect.
Disney Pins
Disney Pins feature Disney Characters, attractions, memorable events and many other Disney related themes. Many thousands of different pins have been issued in different styles, quantities and method of release. There are a number of different categories of Disney Pin, these include general release, limited edition, and cast lanyard pins and many others. Within these categories of pin there are also different styles of pin, eg Standard pins, 3D Pins, pins with dangles, slides and other add on elements, the variety is vast. Pins are generally only available for a limited time, especially the more desirable Limited Edition Pins. Some pins are only available to purchase in specific locations during specific events making them harder to obtain eg, the opening day of a new attraction, special parties, calendar events etc. As a result the subsequent value of these pins is higher due to their limited availability. Most Disney pins are enamel or enamel cloisonné with a metal base. Lots of people collect Disney Pins, some will collect any kind of pin but most collectors will restrict their collection to there most desired category, type, or theme of pin.
Getting Started
Most people will start collecting and trading Disney Pins whilst on holiday at one of the Disney Theme Parks. It is easy to get started. The easiest thing to do is to get yourself a starter Lanyard set from one of the many Disney Outlets. If you want to get a starter Lanyard set before you go they are available to be bought online.
Most people when starting out will trade and collect pins that catch their eye and they like. After a while they will start to realise that there are 'sets' of pins and at this point they decide to start 'homing in' on their favourite sets, characters, theme or whatever.
Before too long you will have a sizable collection that will need to be kept safe and displayed in some way. Initially, your Lanyard will be ok but once you get to about 20 pins your Lanyard will be becoming full and it will also start to get quite heavy, especially if you are carrying it around all day. At this point you may want to invest in a Pin bag or a Pin Folder.
